The availability of Tinashe Nengomasha for Sunday’s Nedbank Cup game against Mamelodi Sundowns, means that Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral is able to field the team that he had originally intended to against Amazulu a last Friday.

Prior to that match the Chiefs coach had to pull the Zimbabwean international Nengomasha out of the starting line up due to an Achilles tendon injury he picked up just before kick off. Nengomasha has been declared fit and he comes back into the midfield while Jonathan Quartey falls back into his favoured central defensive role. Moketi Tsotetsi goes to the substitute’s bench in place of Wayne Matle.

Perfect pitch

Amakhosi coach Muhsin Ertugral did voice his concern about the fact that the Natal Sharks and the Queensland Reds, who battled it out in a Super14 Rugby Match at the ABSA Stadium on Saturday evening, would have given the pitch a real work out. Some over time work put in by the stadium ground crew, which saw them work non stop for eight hours in order to have the field ready for Chiefs clash with Sundowns, seems to have done the trick.

Ertugral inspected the pitch prior to his team coming out for the pre-match warm up and professed himself happy with state of the surface.

Sibeko century

Gerald Sibeko will stat in the centre of midfield along side Tinashe Nengomasha which means that the diminutive midfielder who has found the back of the net a total of five occasions in league and cup matches, will be playing in his 100th game for The Amakhosi. Sibeko made his debut for Chiefs in the 2000 – 2001 season and will be hoping to add the 2007 – 2008 Nedbank Cup to his mantle piece at home, which includes a winner’s medal from this competition in the 2005 – 2006 season when the tournament was known as the ABSA Cup.

Keeping it simple

Muhsin Ertugral has done very little tinkering to his starting line up and the coach has been pleased by his teams performances of their last four games in league and cup competition, which has seen them maintain a 100% record as they have won three and drawn just one match. With one just one change to his starting eleven Ertugral is hoping that the momentum gained by his team over the last month, will roll over and that on Sunday evening they will be celebrating a place in the Nedbank Cup ¼ Finals.
