Tinashe Nengomasha might be ruled out of participating in Chiefs Friday evening Nedbank Cup opener against Ajax Cape Town at the ABSA Stadium in Durban, as he collected his third yellow card of the season during The Amakhosi’s last league outing against Free State Stars on Sunday. That has not stopped the Zimbabwean international known as the General by his team mates for his ability to effectively marshal the midfield from making sure that he is in attendance when his team mates begin their cup run in Durban.

It is not just Nengomasha who will be in Durban but the entire Chiefs squad including players who are not in the match day 18, this is a move welcomed by club captain Shaun Bartlett who believes that the eagerness of those not in the team to be at the ABSA Stadium to support those who will be on the field. Can only help spur on the team to victory, and with Chiefs aiming to lift the cup on the 24th May it is a good thing to have all the players involved in what the Chiefs skipper is hoping will be a victorious cup outing.

Tinashe Nengomasha was unhappy to be missing out on the opening match of the Nedbank Cup, but says that he will be more than happy to take up his seat amongst the capacity crowd at the ABSA Stadium. He told kaizerchiefs.com “I am disappointed not to be playing as a member of this team it is my duty to be in Durban and get behind the boys, when I am playing the other guys come out to support me so now it is my chance to repay the favour. The guys need to know that I and the other guys who are not in the squad are 100% behind them, we will be there to show them that”.

Captains stand

Shaun Bartlett has also been pleased by the fact that players who have not been selected to be part of the original twenty players who travelled to Durban for the match wanted to come and root for the team. A delighted Bartlett told kaizerchiefs.com “when every one is wishing each other well and wanting to be part of the experience even though it is from the stands, it bodes well for the team because it that no matter who is playing every one wants the best for each other. There have been times when I was not in the team and travelled to away matches to watch the guys play, and the guys appreciated me being there. To the guys who will play it means a lot to know that your teams mates are right there behind you, for us this is the start of long road to the final and each and every guy is needed for us to win this trophy”.
