Chiefs will take on Black Leopards on Saturday Morning at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Should Chiefs triumph over Lidoda Duvha The Amakhosi will than face the winner of the second semi -final, which will be contested between Dynamos and Mozambican outfit Costa Do Sol.The final will kick off at 17h00.
Chiefs left Johannesburg around lunch time and arrive in Polokwane in the early part of the evening and were greeted by a number of fans who had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the team bus. Upon disembarkation from the bus a number of players were mobbed by autograph hunters and supporters looking for an elusive photo opportunity with the Chiefs players.
Team manager Bobby Motaung was pleased with the fact that a number of fans had turned up to greet the team when they arrived at their Polokwane hotel saying “the supporters created a nice hype for the team, it also motivates the players as they are aware that they have many admirers in this town”.
Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp, who did not seem to be affected by the long journey from Johannesburg has been eagerly anticipating the opportunity of testing his teams match fitness. He wants to get the team in shape for the Vodacom Challenge match against English Premier League giants Manchester United in just over two weeks time. Contributing the following “Saturdays games are important for us as we would like to start off our preparations with victories and that should give us both a psychological and morale boost looking ahead to the Vodacom Challenge”.
Although Black Leopards are closed book to the Amakhosi coach at this stage of the season as they have a number of new signings and trialists in their ranks at the present time Ernst Middendorp is convinced his charges can win their first game on Saturday. “At the moment most of teams are changing players, some guys are leaving new guys are joining so you really do not know what to expect 100%.oo the other hand we have been training hard so whatever we come up against I am sure we will be able to get the result we want” added Ernst Middendorp.
With the Chiefs players getting some much needed rest ahead of tomorrow’s games, a few members of the Chiefs delegation lead by team manager Bobby Motaung and Coach Ernst Middendorp attended a function hosted by the Premier of the Province. The Chiefs delegation along with representatives from the other three participating teams were welcomed by the Premier to Polokwane for what is hoped will be an entertaining and action packed tournament.
