The Amakhosi team bus whizzed through peak hour traffic in the mother city via the assistance of a police escort and made their way to the Newlands Rugby Stadium to take on Cape Town’s Peoples Team Santos.

Chiefs arrived at Newlands with the knowledge that fellow title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns had earlier in the day climbed to the top of the table with a 2-1 away victory against Moroka Swallows.

As Chiefs go in search of three points against Santos which will take them back to the top of the PSL, they will do with three changes being made to the team that defeated Super Sport United in an ABSA Cup game this past Saturday. Vacating their places in the starting eleven are midfielders Scara Ngobese and Gerald Sibeko, the latter being resigned to a place on the substitutes bench while the former has been omitted all together.

The pair have been replaced by Ditheko Mototo and Gert Schalkwyk who starts Wednesday evening’s game after impressing coach Ernst Middendorp when he made the difference after coming on as a substitute against Bloemfontein Celtic and Super Sport United, Derrick Spencer’s place in the starting eleven is occupied by Tinashe Nengomasha.

The Amakhosi’s opposition on Wednesday evening Santos have also rung the changes as coach Roger Da Sa aims for a top five finish in his first season with the peoples team. Da Sa has made drafted in Brenden Wardle in goal, Marvin Bean slots in at the back at the expense of Thorn Rick October. The final Santos change sees Romano Scott coming in to partner his elder brother Carlo Scott up front for Santos.
