Unable to beat Bloemfontein Celtic in league action last season The Amakhosi will be looking to change that when they face the Free State outfit on Saturday evening at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg, in what is sure to be a scintalating Absa Premiership clash. Kick off is at 18:00

Chiefs have already beaten Celtic once this season in an MTN quarterfinal Final Clash around a month ago, Amakhosi coach Vladimir Vermezovic has been quick to dismiss that result and believes that Saturday’s encounter will be a far tougher game for Chiefs.

Having drawn one game and won one this season in the league Chiefs will be hoping to keep their undefeated run going when they face Celtic, who come into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over Amazulu in their last league outing.

Celtic who under new coach Clinton Larsen were finding their feet in the earlier part of the new season, seemed to have found cohesiveness and an offensive pattern of play and displayed that during thir ruthless dismantling of Amazulu.

Chiefs though are aware of the task ahead of them and Vermezovic has mentioned that he believes Celtic’s attacking duo of Nathan Paulse and Prince Olomu as well as midfielder Moses Spandeel who scored a brace in the win over Amazulu will need special attention. Vermezovic does believe that his team will be up to the challenge of keeping Celtic in check.

Over the last five seasons matches between Chiefs and Celtic have produced exciting encounters and with the form being displayed by both teams Saturday evenings encounter, is likely to be played at a similar high tempo with both sets of goalkeepers expected to be busy.

A look back at the recent history of the recent clashes between the teams shows Chiefs holding the upper hand over Celtic, The Amakhosi have won half of the matches from the 2005 – 2006 that they have played in league games against Celtic.

With the visitors having tasted success over Chiefs on just two occasions in this time in 2006 – 2007 as well as last season, The Amakhosi though do have a good record at home against Celtic and have not lost to them at home since the inception of the PSL in 1996 - 1997.
