The Amakhosi were dealt their first major injury casualty on Monday morning as Tshepo Bulu injured his Achilles tendon while training at the club's base in Naturena.

Bulu who joined Chiefs in the off-season was rushed to hospital on Monday and will undergo an operation on Wednesday morning to repair the damaged tendon.

It is believed that he could potentially be out of action for up to eight months, which will fundamentally mean that the 24-year-old striker from Soweto will in all likelihood not feature for Chiefs for the remainder of the season.

Bulu loss

Bulu, who was on the bench during Chiefs opening night PSL victory last Wednesday against Benoni Premier United , injured himself after landing awkwardly during a training exercise.

Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral has described the potential loss of Bulu for the rest of the season as a major blow to the team, saying “Tshepo is one of the players who was set to feature strongly for us in the coming months. Having to deal with such a serious injury to a player who could potentially have achieved a lot for the team is most definitely a set back, now that we have resigned ourselves to dealing with having to lose him our hope will be for him to make a successful and speedy recovery”.
