Contrary to an article that appeared on a football website on Friday morning, the Premier Soccer League confirmed to kaizerchiefs.com that Chiefs match scheduled for the 24th November between The Amakhosi and their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates, has not had a shift in venue as has been reported.

According to the article, it said that the match had been moved from the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg to the ABSA Stadium in Durban to be played as a prelude to the FIFA World Cup 2010 Preliminary draw, which is to take place at the International Convention Centre in Durban on the 25th November.

No change yet

Premier Soccer League general manager of football on Friday morning, in a conversation with kaizerchiefs.com said that no decision has been made to move the game away from Ellis Park.

Dipela said on the matter: “In the said article they quote a source from the Kwa- Zulu Natal government which says that the game will be in Durban. From the league's side, we have had no discussion with the home club about playing the game in Durban, so as it stands the match on the 24th November of which Orlando Pirates are the hosts remains at Ellis Park."

Chiefs the visitors

As the Amakhosi are the away team at the game on the 24th November, they are guided by the home team and the league as to the necessary fixture arrangements, and as Chiefs communications manager Thebe Mohatle explained, the league and Orlando Pirates have not made any mention to Chiefs of the game being played away from Ellis Park.

“Since the match is not our home game, we do not have any say in the matter as to where the match will be played. We are guided in this matter by the host team which is Orlando Pirates and the PSL. We have not received any communication saying that the match has been moved away from Ellis Park. Our message to the fans is that if there are any alterations to this or any of our other fixtures, we will make the information public as soon as we have official confirmation the changes.”
