Amakhosi reserves demonstrated tremendous resilience on Saturday by coming back from two goals down to earn a 3-3 draw in a thrilling DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) against Royal AM at FNB stadium.
Young Amakhosi had fallen behind as early as the 7th minute before Neo Bohloko equalised four minutes later. However, Thwili Thwahla retook the lead in the 43rd minute to go into half time with a 2-1 advantage.
They stretched the lead to 3-1 five minutes into the second period, but the determined Chiefs side kept fighting and pulled one back through 15-year-old Bohloko’s second of the match in the 63rd minute, and then levelled the scores for the second time with a goal from Siphesihle Tati on 86 minutes.
Amakhosi stay in fourth place on the log, with 31 points from 18 games, five behind third and seven off top spot.
Coach Vela Khumalo will take encouragement from his team’s never-say-die effort into their next assignment, an away fixture against Richards Bay on Sunday, 24 February.
