It is a special evening for Kaizer Chiefs, as the team which was formed on 7 January, 1970, plays its first match as a 55-year-old Club when they take on Stellenbosch FC in a Betway Premiership fixture at FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi return to the FNB for the first time since playing a Carling Knockout cup tie last November. The team’s last Betway Premiership fixture at the Stadium was way back on 28 September 2024.
The boys go into the clash smarting from a defeat suffered in Cape Town on Sunday against Cape Town City. Conversely, their opponents from the Winelands were victorious in their last outing, which was a Confederation Cup match against Lunda Sul from Angola, in Atteridgeville.
For this evening, Coach Nasreddine Nabi has opted to make two changes to the line-up that started against the Citizens, with Reeve Frosler making way for Njabulo Blom and Christian Saile being replaced by Bradley Cross.
Coach Nabi will go for a 3-4-3 formation this evening.
Bruce Bvuma is the goalkeeper.
At the back, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will play on the left of the back three, with Rushwin Dortley at centre-back and Inacio Miguel on the right.
Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Yusuf Maart are the holding midfielders. They are, once again, supported by wingbacks, Blom on the right, and Cross on the left.
The attack is unchanged, with Wandile Duba and Mduduzi Shabalala playing just behind the main striker, Ashley Du Preez.
Maart is the captain of the team.
Referee Thando Ndzandzeka is the referee. His assistants are Thabang Matlhong and Thabo Thinane. The fourth official is Cedric Muvhali.
The Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and Stellies starts at 19:30 at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec. The big birthday match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
