Following a letter sent to the CEO of the PSL Trevor Phillips from Kaizer Chiefs FC managing director Kaizer Motaung, expressing his unhappiness with the fact that opposing teams increase their ticket prices when playing Against Amakhosi, the league's executive committee has finally decided that no fan should be charge more than R15 admission fee to watch a soccer match.

"The maximum charge for the open sitting will be R15, no matter how big the game," Phillips told Sowetan, "but teams could still charge extra for hospitality sitting."

Chiefs public relations officer Putco Mafani believes the decision to standardize the cover charge at the soccer matches is a victory for his club.

"This is a definitely a victory for us as well as Orlando Pirates, as we no longer have to worry about our supporters being charged extra when we play away," said Mafani, who was speaking from the club's headquarters in Naturena.

"We have previously been inundated with calls from our supporters around the country with questions as to why they have to pay extra when the team plays away, so I am happy that finally our supporters will pay the same amount as they normally pay when we play at home," added Mafani.

It is also reported that a number of teams, including Wits University, who hosted Chiefs at KaNyamazane in November, have confirmed to have raised their fees when fixtured against big teams like Chiefs and Pirates.

Some teams have even said the reason they increased the cover charge ranged from employing more security to organizing pre-match entertainment, a really unjustified statement, as Amakhosi usually organize top pre-match entertainment at their own expense and make sure that the supporters are in a safe environment, as far as employing security is concerned.
