The inaugural PSL Awards lived up to its reputation on Sunday evening as the country's finest footballers were recognized for their sterling efforts during the 2007/2008 season.

A glitzy affair awaited the almost 500 guests in attendance at the

Theatre on the Track in Kyalami.

This historic occasion was also beamed live to soccer fans through

SuperSport International and SABC Sport.

The awards were divided into the following Categories: - Absa

Premiership Awards - Nedbank Cup Awards - Telkom Knockout Awards - NFD

Awards - PSL Awards.

Kaizer Chiefs Goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune also had a night to

remember. He received the Players' Player of the Absa Premiership as

well as the Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season. That capped off

a truly remarkable season for the young talented shot stopper as he was

also voted as the Telkom Knockout's Player of the tournament.

"It's been a long hectic season, it was definitely not easy. I must say that it's not all about me, it was a whole team effort that contributed to this. Winning the Telkom Knockout was definitely the highlight for me and the team.

"I had been winning trophies before but the Telkom Knockout stands out as the one in which I made a significant contribution and I'm proud of that. I had promised the supporters a week before the final that we are bringing the trophy home, and we did that," said Khune.
