Kaizer Chiefs defender Bevan Fransman, who missed the start of the season with injury, is back at training and could be available for selection in the Supa 8 quarterfinal clash against Black Leopards.

The SA junior international had stitches to his shin and was out for the last 10 days. However, after a medical check on Monday morning, he was declared ready for battle.

New recruit David Mathebula is doubtful for the Saturday match with a back spasm. He is expected back at full training towards the end of the week. Meanwhile Sphiwe Mkhonza, who suffered a nasty concussion against Dynamos, was given a clean bill of health by the Amakhosi medical team and should be in contention for a place in the starting line-up against Leopards.

Otherwise, it’s all systems go and the players looked refreshed and raring to go on Monday after being given a weekend off.

In Leopards they come up against a wounded animal bent on avenging the Charity Cup defeat. The Limpopo side cannot be taken for granted and their 1-1 league draw against Bloemfontein Celtic was a sign of great improvement.

"The team will in effect be inactive for two weeks before our next match, which is the Supa Eight quarterfinal against Black Leopards on August 21. This should not be a major setback despite the fact that the break does take you out of your rhythm, but I sure the technical staff will be equal to the task," sais club chairman Kaizer Motaung.
