Kaizer Chiefs midfielder John Shoes Moshoeu has been critical of Bafana Bafana’s performance in their World Cup / African Nations Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.

Shoes, a veteran of the 1998 World Cup in France, as well as having played in four CAF Nations Cup, has expressed disappointment at Bafana Bafana’s non qualification for next years world cup in Germany.

When questioned about the game and effects on the nation Moshoeu had the following reply “sad is probably an understatement of how I feel there are certain people who have taken soccer in this country backwards . We are a soccer crazy nation and players who want to represent South Africa must be motivated enough to do so and give there best under any circumstance”.

Although he has described it as a disaster Moshoeu says that all is not lost as South Africa should now look on building a strong team for the Olympics in China in 2008 and use it as a springboard to success for the world cup in 2010 to be hosted by South Africa.
