Amakhosi students clash moved to Rustenburg

The Amakhosi’s PSL fixture against BidVest Wits scheduled to take place on Friday 31st August at Vodacom Loftus Stadium in Tshwane has had to be moved and will now take place on the same date at the Olimpia Park Stadium in Rustenburg, the kick off time for the game remains at 20h00.

The Amakhosi hosted the Students at Olympia Park during the 2004 – 2005 season in what was a do or die encounter for both teams, as Chiefs needed the points to keep them in the hunt for the league title and Wits needed to avoid defeat to in order to stave off relegation to the Mvela league.

In what was a tense and tightly contested game Wits seemed to have done enough to have halted Chiefs charge and were en route towards earning a valuable point, which would have helped in their fight to stay in the PSL.

It was not to be the Students night when in the 89th minute of the match and what can only be described as a sheer moment of madness Wits goalkeeper Wayne Roberts made a rash challenge on Collins Mbesuma, which earned Roberts a yellow card and The Amakhosi a penalty.

Mbesuma wasted no time in dispatching the ball home and in the process sent Roberts the wrong way and handed The Amakhosi victory, it was three points which ultimately helped Chiefs win their second consecutive league title in 2004 – 2005.
