Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos both felt a sense of De Ja Vu after the draw for the Coca Cola Cup quarterfinals were made on Monday.

Various dignitaries and team representatives attended the event, which took place at Coca Cola’s plush officers in Parktown Johannesburg. The draw was conducted by well-known Television and Radio personality Robert Mrewa, who hosts the weekly Soccer Zone show on SABC 1.

Commenting after the draw was made late Monday morning Cosmos public relations officer Kwezi Masondo said “ we are not surprised by this draw as we had expected to get either Chiefs or Pirates, we expecting a tough game and I think it will be an exciting one too”.

Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp who learned about the draw while leaving training on Monday commented “ I am happy with it obviously no game is easy but looking at the rest of the draw I think we got lucky”. The coach also said that the recent war of words between the two teams would be an added incentive for both teams wanting to want to put one over their great rival.

Cosmos beat Chiefs by a goal to nil in the 2002 Coca Cola Cup Final the only time that Chiefs have not won the competition since it’s inauguration in 2001.
