After the recent Soweto derby game between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates the evidence was laid bare to the clubs marketing and branding division that more needs to be done to combat counterfeit products. As fake products began spiralling out of control with counterfeiter’s copying licensed Kaizer Chiefs material, which means that licensees who form part of Kaizer Chiefs commercial programme were being financially affected by people who copy their goods and don’t have any royalties to pay.

It is with this in mind that the club with it’s commercial partner signet licensing have over the past three years worked closely with the South African Police Services in closing the net on companies producing counterfeit Kaizer Chiefs product. Chiefs have also instituted a zero tolerance approach at matches and have and will continue to confiscate the goods of people selling fake gear.

It is with this in mind that Chiefs have set up an SMS Counterfeit Hotline where supporters can SMS immediately upon sight of persons selling fake Kaizer Chiefs product. Any information re Kaizer Chiefs product being made, sold, air freighted etc without Kaizer Chiefs permission – Supporters must supply all info to The SMS Counterfeit line. The number to send the SMS to is 34134. Please note that all SMS received are confidential and sender’s details will be kept private and not made public.
