The stage is set at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban for Amakhosi to face AmaZulu in their second-to-last outing of the 2025/26 season.
When these two sides last met in October at FNB Stadium, the spoils were shared in a tense 1-1 draw. This time, however, the stakes feel different. Despite already securing third place, Chiefs are targeting momentum and pride. Six points from their final two fixtures will see them equal the tally they achieved in the 2019/20 campaign, a marker of consistency that the Club will be eager to underline.
While some players are edging back into contention, Sibongiseni Mthethwa will miss out after sustaining a knock. His absence forces tactical adjustments, but the technical team has chosen stability over wholesale changes, keeping the spine of the squad intact while introducing four fresh faces.
At the back, Reeve Frosler steps in for Thabiso Monyane. The midfield sees Lebohang Maboe slot in for Mthethwa, while Ethan Chislett earns a start to inject creativity, replacing Gaston Sirino, and the young Mfundo Vilakazi who scored last weekend comes in for Pule Mmodi to add pace and directness to the attack.
For Amakhosi, this is more than just a fixture, it’s a chance to sharpen their edge, reaffirm their resilience, and carry momentum into the season finale. Durban provides the backdrop, but the real story will be written on the pitch, where Chiefs aim to prove that third place is not the end of their ambition, but a platform for more.
It’s the traditional 4-4-2 formation for Chiefs.
Skipper, Brandon Petersen is the ‘keeper.
The back four are, from left to right, Bradley Cross, Aden McCarthy, Given Msimango and Frosler.
Maboe is the holding midfielder, with Nkosingiphile Ngcobo to his right, Vilakazi on the left and Chislett just behind the strikers.
Glody Lilepo and Flavio Da Silva lead the attack.
The match officials are referee Christoper Kistoor, along with Thabo Twayise and Lubabalo Pitsha as assistants. Thokozani Mkhize is the fourth official.
Kick-off time for the Betway Premiership match between the Phefeni Glamour Boys and Usuthu is 15:00 at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban.
The match will be broadcast live on channel 205 on DStv and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
