The Amakhosi recorded a 3-1 victory in a friendly match against Hellenic at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday with goals from Derrick Spencer, Serge Djiehoua and a late David Radebe strike.

The Amakhosi took the lead through Derrick Spencer midway through the first half and doubled the lead through Ivorian striker Serge early on in the second half.

Hellenic pulled a goal back just past the hour mark before David Radebe pounced on to a lose ball late in the game to make sure of the result.

Coach Ernst Middendorp pronounced himself satisfied after achieving the desired objective from the game. “I set out to work on certain combinations and it worked well. The only way you can keep in shape is with such games.”

The coach reiterated that he needs certain players who have been inactive for a long time to be able to last a ninety-minute match. “Some of the squad like Emile Baron and Louis need to be put through their paces and you get to see in what aspects of our game we need to be working on,” the coach added.

With this victory, the confidence and general team morale is up ahead of the weekends game against Dynamos.
