Kaizer Chiefs’ reserve side picked up their first win of the year when they beat TS Galaxy 2-0 in the DStv Diski Challenge on Sunday, hosted at the Sugar Ray Xulu stadium in Clermont, just outside Durban.
Chiefs came into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw against Chippa United a week earlier in their first match of 2024, while Galaxy entered the fray on the back of winning 5-0 in their first match of the year against Polokwane City.
15-year-old Neo Bohloko and Siphesihle Tati scored early in the second half to secure the three points for Amakhosi.
Chiefs played the match without regular starters, such as Mfundo Vilakazi and Donnay Jansen, after they were invited to train with the first team.
Coach Vela Khumalo will once again be busy this week as he prepares the young Amakhosi for another assignment away from home, where they will lock horns with Cape Town Spurs reserves in the Mother City on Sunday.
The battleground for the young Glamour Boys and the Urban Warriors will be the Idas Valley stadium in Cape Town. Kick-off is set for 13:00 on Sunday afternoon.
