Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has said that he wants his team to focus on what he describes as potentially championship deciding clashes against Maritzburg Classic and Orlando Pirates; he wants the team to take it one game at a time.

Chiefs play Classic on Wednesday and Pirates on Saturday as the Amakhosi try to close the gap on current PSL log leaders Pirates. The coach has stated that he wants the team to be focused for Wednesdays encounter for now and that they will start preparing for Pirates on Thursday.

The coach has also taken the unlikely step of moving his players out of Johannesburg to prepare them and keep the team focused for this week’s matches.

Speaking of his plan to move his players into a secluded base in the Magaliesburg mountains north west of Johannesburg Middendorp said “I felt things were getting a bit too much, the media are hounding the players - people on the streets are stopping them and asking questions. Every one’s attention is on the Pirates game and our focus needs to be first on Classic then on Pirates, so we will go into the mountains and seek some peace and serenity”.

The coach will announce on Tuesday morning a squad of 20 players for the Classic and Pirates game - should any players receive any suspensions or injuries he will bring in replacements.

Chiefs will journey to Rustenburg late Wednesday afternoon from their Magaliesburg base prior to their game against Classic and will leave for the FNB Stadium from Magaliesburg at midday on Saturday for the much awaited clash against Pirates.
