The Kaizer Chiefs legends began their double header action packed weekend with a hard fought 2-1 victory over a Mafikeng Selection team played in blistering heat at the Independence Stadium in Mmabatho on Saturday afternoon.



The game played to honour former Kaizer Chiefs player Sylvester Cole, a native of Mafikeng was played before a near capacity crowd at the Independence Stadium.



Chiefs took the lead in the first half through Humphrey Mlwane but had their advantage cut down early in the second half as the home team fought their way back into the game with a well taken equalizer.



Joe Mabena brought the smiles back to the huge contingent of Chiefs fans in the stadium as he popped up late in the game to give the Chiefs Legends a hard fought and well deserved victory.



The biggest cheer of the afternoon was reserved for the man in whose honour the game was played, as Sylvester Cole entered late in the second half as a substitute for the Chiefs Legends he received rapturous applause and a standing ovation.



The Chiefs legends headed out of Mafikeng straight after the game on a four hour journey to Kimberly in the Northern Cape where they will play Northern Cape Selection team in the second game of the Reconciliation Day weekend.
