Ahead of their first round Coca-Cola Cup clash against Maritzburg Classic at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg this Saturday (22-10-05), the Amakhosi hosted a Coca Cola media day at the Kaizer Chiefs village in southern Johannesburg on Thursday.

The media were present as coach Ernst Middendorp put his team through their paces as the team continued their preparations for the start of the defence of their Coca Cola Cup title.

The coach has said that he will announce his eighteen-man squad for Saturdays’ game at noon on Friday. Also on display was the spectacular Coca Cola Cup trophy, which Chiefs have won on three out of four occasions, since the inception of the tournament back in 2001.

It came as no surprise that with the Soweto derby between Chiefs and Pirates a week away, the gathered media were clamouring for interviews with Amakhosi defender and former Pirates captain Jimmy Tau.

Tau spent a lengthy two hours doing interviews with a range of publications and television programmes.

The next most popular interviewee was coach Ernst Middendorp who spent more time than Tau doing interviews including a lengthy twenty minutes with E-TV but met fewer journalists.
