Naturena, Johannesburg, Monday, 06 September 2004: League defending champions Kaizer Chiefs are hard at training doing everything possible to increase the Castle Premiership log gap at the top of the table, at the expense of their Saturday, 11 September 2004 guests, Silver Stars. The Phefeni Glamour Boys host ‘The Stars’ at the Soccer City stadium at 7pm, an event that will see the return of the Saturday night fever again for the club’s fans and supporters.

With the return of a highly spirited Kabamba Musasa who demolished Bafana Bafana with a nice goal for his country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there will be many options for Ted Dumitru and his staff, particularly if Songwe Chalwe also arrives in good shape to provide further options of partnering fellow countryman Collins Mbesuma upfront.

“We’ve had a terrific start as defending champions and the search for three points is on. The stage is set for another onslaught to try and increase the lead on top of the table. This is the best time to show our seriousness in keeping the League Trophy, not any other time later in the season, and the Stars will go dim at the FNB stadium,” said an enthusiastic Putco Mafani, club’s spokesperson from the club’s headquarters in Naturena.

Mafani said the return of evening home games is meant to benefit both supporters and players as the summer season has arrived, ”We are going back to our winning ways and providing a customer driven programme for our home games is the best option for us as Saturday afternoons keep people busy in all sorts of different engagements and we will not lock out those who have daytime engagements for most of our games, particularly the non-televised ones,” added Mafani.

He said all travel logistics have been taken into account and relevant role-players have pledged their fullest support with the Taxi organisations ferrying football lovers back to their different areas after the games in the evenings finalizing their plans and commitment. In a summary Mafani said there will be a minimum 4 different routes taking people to Soweto and other areas of Johannesburg.

o From Nasrec to Dobsonville Ext 3 , via Roodeport Road, Luthuli Street, Tau Street and Mphephethwa drive;

o From Nasrec to Zola, via Maponya Stores through Mphuti Street via Sakies and into Mashaya and Bhendile Streets, onto Zola Clinic and finaly ending at Sthembiso and Jaca Street.

o From Nasrec onto Potchefstroom road and will end right at Protea Police Station.

o From Nasrec into Booysen’s Road and up onto Carlton Center.

Mafani said: “It is part of our plans and the value we are giving back to our supporters by making sure they are comfortable with transport arrangements particularly for the evening games and for their safety and security.”

Pre-match entertainment will be provided by Zola of “Zola 7” and curtain raisers will start at 5pm between Chiefs’ Celebrities and Brand House.

Tickets are already on sale at Computickets outlets for R20 adults and R10 juveniles.
