2024/25 DStv Diski Challenge champions, Kaizer Chiefs have endured a patchy defence of their title so far, but at Sunday’s DDC festival at the Solomon Mahlangu stadium in Mpumalanga, they dispatched log leaders and fierce rivals, Orlando Pirates 2-0, to give a strong indication that they will not surrender their crown without a fight.
Goals from Kamogelo Malefo and substitute Naledi Hlongwane ensured a fourth successive DDC victory over the ‘old enemy’ and secured back-to-back wins in the league following their 3-0 thrashing of Polokwane City last weekend, to take them up two places, from eighth to sixth, with 17 points from 11 matches.
They will go into their away fixture against Chippa United at the Westbourne Oval stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday, 22 November, brimming with confidence in search of a third win on the bounce and a higher position in the league standings. Kick-off is at 10:00am.
