Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic welcomed his charges back to training on Monday morning at the Kaizer Chiefs village in Naturena, located just South of the Johannesburg CBD.

The Chiefs mentor was happy to have his players who had been on holiday from the 23rd December back at training and he will be aiming to gradually work them back to full training as they begin intensifying their preparations for their remaining six games of the season which all take place in February.

Long term injury casualty Valery Nahayo has made a full recovery and just as he had been doing in the weeks before the team had been given off for the holidays, the Burundian international continued training with rest of his team mates on Monday. As did Zimbabwean international Knowledge Musona who picked up an injury on the 25th November last year during Chiefs 2-0 loss to SuperSport United, Vermezovic will be happy with the opening mornings work as he worked his charges back in to shape.

Injury Concern

The only absentee at Chiefs first training session of 2010 was striker Kaizer Motaung Junior, Amakhosi coach Vladimir Vermezovic offered kaizerchiefs.com an explanation as to why the player was not at training saying. “I have been told that Kaizer Junior has a problem with his back, the Doctors have said that they will give us a report sometime today or tomorrow which will give us further insight in to the injury. I am hoping that it is not too bad”.

Positive Beginning

With players being on leave for more than three weeks it is always a concern for a coach that his players return with injuries or other fitness related issues but the Chiefs coach was fortunate not to have any such problems. He spoke of Monday morning’s session saying, “apart from Kaizer I am happy to report that we have had no other problems everyone else was at training and everything went well. I believe it will continue to go in this way and we looking towards making a lot of progress over the next few weeks, this period is kind of like a pre-season for us given that we have been off for a lengthy period”.
