“I do not play friendly games!” this was a response of the coach, Vladimir Vermezovic when kaizerchiefs.com asked him about the coming game against Iran on Saturday at Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein.

The Serbian was speaking to the Club website following a press conference held at Sandton City on Tuesday afternoon.

“I play to win and for us this game is about preparation for the up coming season and it does not come serious than that,” he continued.

“They are using the game to start preparing for the next tournament as they have missed out an opportunity to play in the next year’s World Cup to be staged here. I know that they have a young team and they should give us a good preparation.”

The Serbian used 16 of his players in last weekend’s tournament and revealed to the press conference that he might introduce new faces against "Team Melli" as Iran is affectionately known.

“We have a couple of players who have tight muscles following a rigorous camp in Pretoria. I am hoping to introduce new faces as we continue to test our strength ahead of the upcoming season,”

The coach’s words were echoed by captain, Jimmy Tau who was also in attendance at press conference, “It is all about preparation for us for the upcoming season. The game also gives us an opportunity to measure how far we have gone with our preparations and I must say that we are really excited about this game,” said Jimmy Tau.

Ken Simmons who is the brains behind the historic game explained to kaizerchiefs.com the rational behind inviting Iran, “We have good relations with Sports Global Management who are FIFA and UEFA match agents. They also happen to be agency for Iran National Team that is what gave birth to this idea.

We also see Asia as a growing football market with the likes of Iraq doing well in the world stage, we thought it was a good opportunity for us to appreciate what they are doing on that side of the world. It is also good to note that this game comes just after we have hosted a successful Confederations Cup.” Said Ken Simmons Director at J.A.K.E Productions who are the organizers for this game.
