Amakhosi announce 18 man squad for Santos encounter

Coach Ernst Middendorp has made some surprise inclusions in his eighteen man squad who will be making the trip to Rustenburg for Wednesday nights PSL game against Santos.

Surprise inclusions in the squad are striker Kaizer Motaung Junior who had an outstanding game in the Macufe Cup against Bloemfontein Celtic, as well as equally impressive midfielders David Mathebula and Lucky Mzizi.

Four players who were in the eighteen man squad who played against Black Leopards a fortnight ago have been left out.

They are striker Songwe Chalwe and the midfield trio of Gerald Sibeko, Scara Ngobese and Arthur Zwane. Arthur Zwane is suffering from a thigh strain he suffered while playing for Bafana Bafana against the DRC over the weekend.

Replying to the questions surrounding Scara Ngobese’s omission from the team the coach said “ I felt he was a bit slow and needed to detoxify his body after his trip to Cairo - I did not think he was ready for Wednesday’s game, we will see after Santos how he is coping before I make a decision whether or not to play him against Swallows on Sunday”.

The defence has also been bolstered by the return from injury of Fabian McCarthy and Cyril Nzama who last played for Chiefs in a league game in April.
