As their home city of Moscow some ten thousand kilometres away freezes over in it’s worst winter chill since 1929, the Amakhosi’s visitors from Russia FC Moscow spent Friday afternoon outdoors enjoying the warm Johannesburg sunshine.

The entire Amakhosi first team squad along with their Muscovite friends turned up at the FNB Stadium Friday to conduct a coaching clinic for more than 150 kid’s boys and girls from five different Primary Schools from in and around Johannesburg.

The young stars of tomorrow were put through their paces by players and coaching staff from the two teams, and went through different routines from five a side games through to shooting practise.

The future prospective Amakhosi were given a taste of what a typical Chiefs or FC Moscow training session is like, and all wanted to continue on once the time for the session had elapsed.

FC Moscow coach Leonid Sluitski was pleased for his charges to oblige and help in the development of the game in South Africa, as he commented “we came here to learn and to help and for us to get involved with Chiefs by helping these kids and making some difference to the way they play the game is a legacy FC Moscow will be happy to leave”.

Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp echoed similar sentiments “this is a good exercise for us to be a part of the players get to teach the kids something, and we also get to meet our opponents for tomorrow’s game in a friendly atmosphere”.

Chiefs former midfielder maestro now plying his skills with FC Moscow Stanton Fredericks proved to be the most popular of the visiting teams players as the gallery clamoured for his autograph and a picture for the memory.

Stiga as Stanton was commonly known during his time at Chiefs gets the chance to play at his old hunting ground the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening at 20h00 when Chiefs play host to FC Moscow in a friendly international game.
