South Africa will face host nation, Morocco, in the quarterfinals of the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, after finishing as runners-up in Group B of the continental championship’s first round.
Amajimbos began with a bang by coming back from a two goal deficit to beat Egypt 4-3 in their opening match, with Kaizer Chiefs starlet, Neo Bohloko. netting twice from the penalty spot. They followed up with 0-0 draw against Cameroon and then a 2-0 loss to group winners, Burkina Faso. However, Egypt’s win over Cameroon in their final fixture ensured South Africa a second-placed finish and a berth in the quarterfinals.
Vela Khumalo’s side will have to be at their best to overcome Morocco in their own back yard when the teams meet on Thursday, 10 April at the El Baschir stadium in Mohammedia.
