Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Arthur Zwane is looking forward to Saturday’s ABSA Cup final against Orlando Pirates in Durban with bated breath.

The former Pirates player is relishing coming up against former Chiefs teammates Siyabonga Nomvete and Jabu Pule, who has recently changed his surname to Mahlangu after under going a ritual cleansing process.

Zwane played for a season with Siyabonga Nomvete at Chiefs and was Jabu’s teammate for almost four seasons at Amakhosi. Arthur and Jabu in their four seasons together, brought to Chiefs four Cup titles plus the league title in 2003-2004.

For Zwane, the prospect of facing his old friends is not a daunting one. To him, it will be a challenging one and a challenge that can not come quickly enough “when Jabu was at Chiefs I enjoyed playing with him. I cannot deny that he is an immensely talented player and for him playing against us is something he was probably praying for. The truth is, the fact that he will be against me on Saturday has me extra motivated” explains a fired up Zwane.

From past experience Arthur is aware of Jabu’s penchant to live up to the big game and shine when the lights are on him adding “ every time I played in a final with him he always shone - look at what he did to Cosmos in the 2001 Coca Cola Cup final when we won 5-0”.

Arthur is confident that this will be one time when the lights will be switched off and Jabu’s star won’t shine in a Cup final saying “ on Saturday Jabu will find the going hard - we know him very well and we are going to make it very hard for him to make an impact”.

When it comes to the tricky and speedy Siyabonga Nomvete, Zwane is equally confident that the highly talented striker will be kept at bay come Saturday afternoon. “Siyabonga is a great player and he like Jabu will have added motivation for this game - but we know his strengths and weaknesses our defenders know him well. I mean he played a few seasons with Cyril and Thabo so it bodes well for us that we know him well, obviously there are other players at Pirates who are equally dangerous and we can not count them out”.

Arthur Zwane and the rest of his teammates departed for Durban ahead of Saturday’s big game on Wednesday afternoon. Chiefs will use the opportunity to acclimatize to the conditions at the coast.
