Her Excellency Ms. Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba, the South African Ambassador to Türkiye, paid a visit to the Kaizer Chiefs team in the country’s largest city,Istanbul, where they are currently holding their pre-season training camp. The Ambassador was warmly welcomed by Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr., who expressed his gratitude for her support.
"I'm delighted to welcome Her Excellency to our training camp," said Motaung Jr. "Her visit is a testament to the strong relations between South Africa and Türkiye, and we're honoured to be a part of it."
Ambassador Letsatsi-Duba was pleased to see the team training in the country where she represents South Africa on a diplomatic level, highlighting the rich relations between the two countries. "I'm thrilled to see Kaizer Chiefs here in Türkiye, a country with which South Africa has a long history of friendship and cooperation," she said. "This visit is a great opportunity to strengthen our ties and promote cultural exchange between our nations."
Chiefs have been in the country that is located in both Asia and Europe for almost two weeks, where they have been training intensively in preparation for the upcoming season. The team has also played a friendly match as part of their preparations, which was attended by Ambassador Letsatsi-Duba.
This visit is a reciprocal gesture, following a courtesy visit by Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung to the Turkish Ambassador to South Africa, Her Excellency Ms. Aysegul Kandas, in Pretoria last week. The two ambassadors discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries, including cultural and sporting exchanges.
"This visit is a great example of the strong bonds between our countries," said Ambassador Letsatsi-Duba. "We look forward to continuing our cooperation and promoting mutual understanding through sports and culture."
